About
Audrey Frischman is a New York City-based producer, director, and a one-time-taker of a pottery class. Audrey grew up in Los Angeles, CA and moved to New York to go to NYU Gallatin where she earned her B.A. in Individualized Study with a concentration in Adolescence as Displayed in Theater.
She currently is a Line Producer at The Public Theater where she oversees the producing of all Readings and Artistic Developments. At The Public she has line produced the audio version of Shipwreck: A History Play about 2017 written by Anne Washburn and directed by Saheem Ali, the WNYC Radio Version of Richard II directed by Saheem Ali, The Michaels written and directed by Richard Nelson, the Public Studio 2019 productions, The Loophole and Cullud Wattah. In the 18/19 season, she assistant line produced Girl from the North Country, Wild Goose Dreams and Ain’t No Mo’.
She is also a founding member of theater company, WalkUpArts for whom she produces and directs. Most recently, she directed Philip Santos Schaffer’s The End of the World Bar and Bathtub.
In the years since Audrey has officially been a freelance producer, she has worked with lots of different weirdos across New York City. To name a few:
Sinking Ship Productions on their tri-yearly puppet slam Puppet Playlist, as well as on their most-recent mainstage show, A Hunger Artist in June of 2017 (which was nominated for two Drama Desk awards!).
For Columbia University School of the Arts, she produced Ari Rodriguez’s MFA Directing Thesis, HAIR in March of 2017. She also produced the MFA Playwriting Theses of Santino DeAngelo and Max Mondi in April/May of 2018.
In other versions of her life, Audrey makes Stop Motion videos with collaborators such as Laura Been, Danny Townsend and Anthony Gabriele. She was also the Editor-in-Chief of the zine, Walk Write Up which she created with Laura Been and Philip Santos Schaffer.
